Documentation (renderguy)
Overview
Discuss the findings of the group regarding the state of the current user documentation.
I've found a possible solution to the production of offline documentation, for delivery and printing. I'd like to discuss that too. Paul Gregory
Summary
First discussion revolved around the solution to deliverable/printable documentation. Paul described the operation of DokuTeXit, a custom Wiki renderer that renders direct from Wiki markup to LaTeX and then onto PDF. The general consensus was that this is a good solution. Careful thought will have to go into the structure and format of the documentation in Wiki in order to ensure that the conversion to PDF produces optimum results.
The next discussion point was the restructuring of the current 'manual' on the Wiki. renderguy suggested the following structure, having spent some time looking at comparative manuals, and identifying our current manuals weaknesses.

The plan going forward was discussed. The intention is for renderguy to restructure the existing documentation to match the layout above. Then to identify areas that need input, record them on the Wiki, and encourage others in the team to help out filling in those areas.
Tasks
- Document the repository/branch/build strategy on the Wiki - renderguy
- Move the bake2tif functionality into RiMakeTexture
- Remove the plugins
- Reimplement exr2tif as a simple executable converter to tide the users over until the new image conversion system is ready - tcolgate
- Restructure the existing documentation to match the agreed layout - renderguy
- Record on the wiki all the tasks that need to be completed on the documentation - renderguy
